In the German part of the North Sea, Bilfinger is installing 72 foundations for the Sandbank Wind Farm. Blue Water’s stevedore department in Esbjerg is responsible for the loading operations.

The foundations, consisting of a monopile and a transition piece, are transported to Esbjerg on Bilfinger’s barges and picked up again by the installation vessel Pacific Orca .

“The first port calls have been completed as planned. We have cooperated with Bilfinger for many years on several projects, and the fact that Bilfinger wants to continue our cooperation is a big recognition for us,” says Brian Sørensen, Business Development Manager Wind .

The Sandbank Wind Farm is located 90 kilometers west of the island Sylt and is the second large offshore wind farm project undertaken by Vattenfall in collaboration with Stadtwerke München.

When it is completed in 2017, the wind farm will be able to supply more than 400,000 households with green electricity.
