DNV GL spins Alstom’s Oceade 18 tidal turbine
DNV GL has issued a ‘Statement of Feasibility’ for Alstom’s Oceade 1.4 MW tidal turbine. DNV GL will work with Alstom to review and approve design documents before heading towards the fabrication stage, including manufacturing quality and equipment testing and surveillance of the installation and commissioning. After that, final prototype certification of the turbine will follow.
ORPC Ireland to conduct tidal studies for County Donegal
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has awarded funding to ORPC Ireland for conducting a feasibility assessment to identify tidal energy development opportunities off County Donegal, Ireland. The project will review existing resource data, evaluate grid accessibility, identify existing marine users and sensitive environmental areas, assess supply chain viability, and conduct community engagement activities.
PolyGen deploys wave energy device at FaBTest
PolyGen, a UK-based wave energy developer, has deployed a full-scale Volta wave energy device off Falmouth, Cornwall. Volta wave energy device is built almost entirely from high-density polyethylene, and the device will continue tests at the wave energy test site FaBTest, located in Falmouth Bay, over the coming year.
Nemos makes waves in Denmark
Nemos has started the fully automatized operation of their scaled wave energy system in Denmark. The 1:5 scaled Nemos wave energy device is operating at Nissum Bredning test site. It is equipped with optimized hardware and advanced operations software, and is already feeding electricity into the Danish grid.
Indonesian government to offer incentives for renewables
Indonesia has promised that it will provide incentives, including import-tax reduction, in an effort to increase investment in the country’s renewable energy projects. Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, Sudirman Said, announced new regulations that would help create new investment opportunities for the development of renewable energy sector.
