Cheniere’s Corpus Christi liquefaction project progresses

Houston-based LNG player Cheniere filed a progress report on its Corpus Christi liquefaction project with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Houston-based LNG player Cheniere filed a progress report on its Corpus Christi liquefaction project with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The report covers activities of the Corpus Christi liquefaction project that occurred during the month of July 2015.

In its filing, Cheniere informs that engineering has progressed to 71.9%, procurement has progressed to 25.9%, while subcontract and direct hire construction are 0% and 0.1%, respectively.

The total project has progressed to 18.9% complete against a planned 14.1%.

Engineering has focused on finishing out piping design, completing IFC the balance of above ground piping isometrics for Train 1, and progressing above ground piping isometrics for OSBL.

Construction focused on continuing mobilizing to site and beginning site prep work. In the month of July, Bechtel completed the installation of silt fencing in the laydown areas, the construction of roads, the installation of drainage culverts, and the delivery of various fill materials and backfilling Bed 24.

The liquefaction project near Corpus Christi, Texas is designed for up to three trains with a production capacity of approx. 13.5 million tons per annum, three LNG storage tanks with capacity of about 10.1 Bcfe, two LNG carrier docks and a 22-mile, 48″ natural gas supply pipeline.

The first train is expected to start operations as early as 2018, with the second train expected to commence operations approximately six to nine months thereafter.
