ABS Group Ltd. has been named as the ‘Preferred Supplier’ for a multi-year project certification contract by Navitus Bay Development Ltd. for the proposed Navitus Bay Wind Park project in the United Kingdom.
Located off the Dorset and Hampshire coasts of England and west of the Isle of Wight, the offshore wind park could help generate up to £1.6 billion of economic benefit to the local area and provide low carbon electricity for around 700,000 UK households.
The contract will involve certification of the key structural components of the project with an option for full project certification to confirm that the project achieves compliance with design and installation specifications, codes and standards. ABS Group’s scope of work includes design certification, verification of the coupled load analysis and potentially manufacturing inspections, transportation and installation surveillance, monitoring of commissioning activities and in-service inspections.

Work will commence immediately to support Navitus Bay Development Ltd. with a conceptual design verification and related activities in advance of final consent approval and financial closing.
The main scope of work is expected to commence in 2016 and continue through the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning phases through 2020.
