SeaBird Exploration is mobilizing Aquila Explorer for the TGS Gigante survey in the Gulf of Mexico.
The vessel is expected to arrive in the area during October and will be the fifth SeaBird vessel on the project.
Aquila Explorer joins SeaBird’s Osprey Explorer and Hawk Explorer which begun the acquisition in June.
Northern Explorer is also working on the project along with one more vessel.
SeaBird received Letter of Award (LoA) from TGS in 2014 for the acquisition of seismic data in Mexico and US Atlantic. The LOA provides TGS access to charter up to six seismic vessels from SeaBird over a period of approximately 36 months.
As earlier announced, Gigante will cover the offshore sector of Mexico, including the Perdido fold belt and Campeche Bay, and line ties will be made in to the US Gulf of Mexico regional grids previously acquired by TGS.
Data processing will be performed by TGS with initial fast-track data available in Q3 2015.
