Teekay’s second MEGI-powered LNG vessel, Oak Spirit has been launched at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea.
Once delivered in 2016, the vessel will start transporting liquefied natural gas under a 5-year charter contract with US LNG player Cheniere.
The 173,000 cubic meter newbuilding will be Teekay’s second of nine LNG vessels with MEGI engines to be built at DSME.
Two additional LNG MEGI newbuildings will be built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard.
