First steel was cut on the 105 meters long subsea operations vessel ‘Tasik Toba’ at Fujian Mawei Shipyard in Fuzhou.
The ceremony was performed on August 25 by John Giddens, the founder and CEO of Tasik Subsea.
Fujian Mawei Shipyard in China secured a contract for the construction of the vessel last year in August.
The vessel’s design and specification have been carried out by Tasik Subsea.
The Tasik Toba will be DP3 and have a 300 metre rated saturation diving system, hangar facilities fin-two deep water ROVs, a 150 tonne safe working load active heavy compensated crane with 3000 metre working depth, and accommodation for 120 men.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2017.
