Norway’s Solvang and partners have signed a contract with South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries for the construction of two 78,700 cbm LPG carriers.
According to a statement by Solvang, the Panamax VLGC vessels will able to transit both new and old Panama canal.
The new vessels are scheduled for delivery in the second and third quarter of 2017. Solvang will be managing owner and the vessels will be placed into one of the existing shipowning companies where the company has 30% ownership.
Both vessels will upon delivery from yard enter 10-year time charter contracts to an oil major, Solvang said.
