Industrial Tomography Systems (ITS) has developed the DENS-ITOMETER, a technology designed around electrical conductivity which offers a greener, simpler and more cost effective alternative to conventional nuclear based systems.

Supplied as a pipe based sensor, the new DENS-ITOMETER monitors slurry flow across an entire cross section and provides accurate, real-time data on the density profiles of moving solids during dredging.

Its patented measurement technology uses electrical conductivity – rather than gamma radiation – to take these essential readings.

A safer and more environmentally friendly replacement, this so-called ‘Gamma Buster’ also removes the significant costs associated with regulatory compliance, nuclear waste disposal and specialist operators.

An adaptable design allows the DENS-ITOMETER to inspect 100% of flows no matter what the orientation of the pipe; a distinct advantage over conventional gamma systems which are often inaccurate when used to measure horizontal flows.

Equally beneficial to operators under pressure to improve environmental standing is that, thanks to its electrical process, the DENS-ITOMETER eliminates the need to receive, maintain or dispose of nuclear sources either on board ship or at land based installations.
