The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a project update for the Alaska LNG project.
FERC informed in its filing that it plans to hold public scoping meetings with interested stakeholder in October and November with the formal comment period closing on December 4.
The comments will be considered when completing the project’s environmental impact statement.
According to the project schedule, Alaska LNG is expected to submit a formal application for the project in September 2015.
Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, BP Alaska LNG, Conoco Phillips Alaska LNG, ExxonMobil Alaska LNG and TransCanada Alaska Midstream, collectively Alaska LNG, are planning to transport and liquefy supplies of natural gas from the production fields at the Point Thomson and Prudhoe Bay Units on Alaska’s North Slope for export and potential in-state deliveries.
The liquefaction facility would consist of three liquefaction trains, three 160,000 cubic meter storage tanks, and a marine terminal with two loading berths, for an export capacity between 2.5 to 3 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The project is planned to start construction in 2018 or early 2019 with startup targeted for 2025 or 2026.
