The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Virginia Port Authority announced the initiation of the Norfolk Harbor and Channels Deepening Project General Reevaluation Study on September 12.

The Corps and its project partner, VPA, are now inviting the public to attend a National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, scoping meeting on September 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Norfolk, Virginia.

The format of the meeting will be an informal open-house, which the public can attend any time during the meeting hours and staff from the USACE and Virginia Port Authority will be available to answer questions.

The meeting will provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the study and provide comments on the project.

The USACE plans to prepare an Environmental Assessment to evaluate environmental impacts from reasonable project alternatives, and to determine the potential for significant impacts.
