Gazprom’s CEO Alexey Miller and Rovnag Abdullayev, President of SOCAR met on Tuesday in St. Petersburg to discuss bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
The point of the meeting was to resume natural gas supplies to Azerbaijan by Gazprom, Russian gas giant said in a statement.
According to the statement, it was noted that export gas supplies would make it possible to meet the growing energy demand of Azerbaijan.
Gazprom Export and Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo) recently signed a mid-term supply and purchase deal for the delivery of up to 2 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
