Japan’s utility Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) said its imports of LNG in August totalled 2.03 million tonnes, a rise of 1.4 percent compared to the same month last year.
The utility used 1.92 million tonnes of LNG in August, down 7.4 percent on year, according to fuel consumption data released by Tepco on Thursday.
In April-August period, Tepco bought 9.35 million tonnes and consumed 9.08 million tonnes of LNG.
Tepco is Japan’s first importer of the chilled fuel, and it imports LNG from projects located in Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Qatar, Darwin, Oman, Russia and Papua New Guinea.
