Brazil’s Petrobras on Monday terminated yet another vessel contract.
After World Wide Supply, a provider of offshore shipping services, informed Monday that it had received a notice of early termination of contracts for two of its platform supply vessels (PSVs) from Brazilian state-run oil and gas giant, yet another shipping company reported Petrobras cancelling a vessel contract.
This time, it was Siem Offshore that has received notice of early termination for the 1996-built platform supply vessel (PSV), the Siem Carrier.
The Norwegian company said that the termination was due to Petrobras’ failing to obtain operating license for the vessel.
Siem added that, according to contract terms, termination fee was not applicable to Petrobras as the vessel was blocked by local tonnage.
The contract for the Siem Carrier was signed in May 2013 , and by original terms it was for four years with an option to extend for another four years.
At the moment, the Marine Traffic data shows that the Siem Carrier is anchored in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro.
