Subsea 7 Man Joins Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering

The Royal Academy of Engineering has named 50 new Fellows, including Subsea 7’s Technology Director, John Mair.

The new Fellows join around 1500 others at the academy, with new members elected annually to join the fellowship in recognition of their contributions to engineering.

In addition, Mair is a Fellow and Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Board Member and Chairman of Industry steering Group with National Subsea Research Institute (NSRI).

John Mair, who has 34 years in the Subsea sector, studied Mechanical Engineering at Robert Gordon’s Institute in Aberdeen. He started his career at Subsea Offshore in 1979 specializing in Remote Technology and became Global Engineering Director in 1994.

He became the Global Technology Director of Subsea 7 in 2010 and is responsible for technology development within the company, including its subsequent implementation and commercialisation.

He was awarded the Contribution to Industry Award at Subsea 2007.
