Repsol’s Canaport import terminal in Canada is scheduled to receive one liquefied natural gas cargo on October 8, according to port data.

The cargo will be shipped onboard the 137,814 cbm Madrid Spirit. The LNG carrier is currently anchored offshore Trinidad’s Port of Spain, shipping data shows.

Canada’s National Energy Board recently granted Repsol a licence to export LNG from the proposed 5 mtpa facility to be located at the Canaport terminal near Saint John, New Brunswick.

Saint John LNG Development, a unit of Spain’s Repsol, received an approval to export up to 8.86 bcm of gas per year for the period of 25 years. Repsol intends to export the chilled gas to Europe.
