FMC Technologies, Inc., a provider of technologies and services to the oil and gas industry, has received an award from Shell Offshore, Inc. (Shell) for its Appomattox deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico.
Under the agreement, FMC Technologies will provide enhanced vertical deepwater trees, subsea manifolds, topside controls, a control system, and a distribution system for the field, which lies in the Mississippi Canyon area of the eastern Gulf of Mexico in 7,200 feet of water, 260km southeast of New Orleans.
Tore Halvorsen , Senior Vice President, Subsea Technologies, said: “FMC Technologies has supported Shell’s subsea requirements for more than two decades, and this project represents the continued strength of that relationship.”
Shell announced the final investment decision to advance the Appomattox deep-water development in the Gulf of Mexico on July 1, 2015. According to Shell, the platform will be the company’s eighth and largest floating platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Appomattox development will initially produce from the Appomattox and Vicksburg fields, with average peak production estimated to reach approximately 175,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).
