Damen Shipyards Group informed on Thursday that a naming ceremony for a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Mamola Defender, to be managed by Promar, took place on September 23, 2015.

Mamola Defender will be the second Damen PSV vessel to be managed by a Swiss-headquartered company that manages a fleet of Multi-Purpose Supply Vessels and Fast Crew Boats which serve the global offshore marine industry, Promar.

To remind, Damen received an order from Promar for two PSVs in January 2014 and Mamola Defender is the second of the two vessels ordered.

The first vessel, Mamola Reliance, was delivered in February 2015 and is currently in service in the West African market.

According to the Dutch shipbuilder Damen, Mamola Defender is expected to be operational in the same region. Both vessels are of the Damen PSV 3300 design.

During the construction of the vessel, Promar had a team based in Romania to supervise the project with Damen Shipyards Galati.

Jérôme Bouchardy , Head of Projects and Commercial Manager at Promar, said: “There was a fruitful collaboration between the Promar team and Damen. Thanks to the great professionalism of all teams, as well as Damen’s excellent production capabilities, the project went well and was delivered on time. We are very proud to manage such a beautiful vessel. Like her Sister ship, Mamola Reliance, she has been designed and built to fulfill the highest requirements of the offshore industry. She features a broad package of options and is SPS compliant, offering therefore additional flexibility for clients.”

The Christening ceremony for Mamola Defender has taken place in Barcelona.

Damen Regional Sales Manager North, West and South Europe Andrea Trevisan said: “This was a fantastic cooperation between Promar, the ship-owners and Damen, for all the processes related to the building of these two vessels. We are sure these high quality PSVs will be appreciated by all business partners.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Promar. Building a ship is teamwork and the cooperation was excellent throughout this whole process. The team at Promar are professional and enthusiastic and we hope to be able to work with them again in the future.”
