The European Union Offshore Safety Directive was issued in June 2013 and gave European member states until 19th July 2015 in which to bring the provisions into their own national laws and regulations.
During Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference in Amsterdam we have a look at the consequences of the new directive and share the experience of different stakeholders in implementing the changes. We also look at the challenges of diverging safety regimes between countries, partners, and industry organizations and explores the need for collaboration.
This session will be led by George Galloway, co-founder of the Well Academy training institute and WellSpec knowledge platform to support the Drilling & Well Services Industry. Galloway holds a BSc(Hons) in Offshore Engineering from Heriot-Watt University and is a member of The Institution of Chemical Engineers, The Society of Petroleum Engineers and The Energy Institute.
Expert speakers contributing to this session are Gert-Jan Windhorst, Deputy Secretary General of NOGEPA, the Netherlands Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Association , Ben Oudman, Head of Gas Consulting & Services DNV GL – Oil & Gas Netherlands and Bram Leerdam, HSE&Q Manager at Paragon Offshore (a member of IADC).
Independent verifier
In his presentation Bram Leerdam will discuss the safety and environmental critical elements. Leerdam currently manages a team of Health, Safety and Environmental specialists with Paragon Offshore in the European Division since the spun off from Noble Corporation in 2014. During the session he will focus on identification process of SECE’s, setting Performance Standards and the role of the independent verifier.
Ben Oudman joined DNV GL Gas Consulting & Services in 2013 and is Country Manager Netherlands of DNV GL Oil & Gas since the 1st of January this year. He will present the role of the independent verifier using the example of DNV GL´s experiences in the UK and Danish markets. Raised topics will include minimum requirements, verification scheme and take over survey.
