Billionaire investor Carl Icahn boosted its stake in Houston-based Cheniere Energy to 11.43 percent.
Icahn now owns 27 million shares in the U.S. LNG player, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Cheniere also recently appointed two managing directors of Icahn Capital, a subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises, to its board of directors.
“ As we have done with a number of companies in the past, we hope to contribute meaningfully as Board members towards enhancing shareholder value at Cheniere, ” Icahn said after the announcement.
Cheniere is currently building two LNG export plants, namely the Sabine Pass in Cameron Parish, Louisiana and the Corpus Christi in San Patricio County, Texas.
