Dutch offshore operator Conquest Offshore has appointed the Port of Amsterdam as the home port for its heavy lift crane barge Conquest MB1 .
The barge, which has a lifting capacity of 1,400 tons, will settle today in the Cacaohaven. The crane is able to fully rotate 360 degrees. It has a free deck space of 3,700 m2 with a strength of 20 tons/m2. The Conquest MB1 can operate in shallow waters, up to a draft of 3,5 meters, and accommodate up to 60 people.
Koen Overtoom, COO, Port of Amsterdam , said: “This is a crane barge that can handle some impressive weights. Unique in the port region. A true power lifter. The Conquest MB1 will deliver a wonderful contribution to the future of our port region within the offshore industry.”
The Amsterdam port’s terminal offering space for this initiative is the Ter Haak Group. The Ter Haak Group is clearing 300 meters of quay, on its 30ha USA terminal in the Cacaohaven, to accommodate land and floating cranes of a 300 tons an upward calibre.
In addition to clearing the quay, the Ter Haak Group will also clear 40,000 m2 for the mobilization and demobilization of offshore industry’s projects as well as heavy lift projects.
Conquest Offshore operates in construction, installation, salvage and decommissioning work for ports, the oil & gas and offshore wind industry.
