The 210,100 cbm Q-Flex carrier Al Oraiq is currently unloading LNG at the Zeebrugge terminal after it collided with Dutch freighter Flinterstar off the coast of Belgium on Tuesday.
The freighter, owned by Dutch shipping company Flinter sank, but all its crew members were rescued.
According to Belgium’s Fluxys, the operator of the Zeebruge terminal, LNG tanker Al Oraiq suffered slight damage to its bow in the accident.
“ The authorities requested Fluxys to assist in bringing the LNG carrier to a safe mooring at the LNG terminal. Just before 3 p.m., Fluxys could start the usual procedures to unload the liquefied natural gas into the storage tanks at the terminal, ” the company said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The Q-Flex carrier, owned by Japanese shipping giant K Line brought the LNG from Qatar’s Port of Ras Laffan.
