MacGregor, part of Cargotec, Finnish provider of cargo-handling machinery for ships, has signed a contract for the design and delivery of key components and fabrication of steel structures for the hatch covers on board six 14,000 TEU container vessels.

The container vessels, which are being built for an undisclosed Japanese owner, are currently under construction at Japan Marine United’s (JMU) Kure shipyard.

The order was booked in third quarter 2015 order intake and the delivery of the vessels is scheduled from 2016 to 2018.

The 14,000 TEU vessels will be deployed for the service between Far East and Europe.

“This order follows four ships contracted in 2014 for the same series” , says Hiroshi Goto Area Marketing Manager, Cargo Handling, MacGregor .
