Gazprom talks gas with Engie, Fluxys

Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller and Jean-Francois Cirelli, Special Advisor to the Presidency of Engie (Gas Supplies), held a meeting in St. Petersburg.

Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller and Jean-Francois Cirelli, Special Advisor to the Presidency of Engie (Gas Supplies), held a meeting in St. Petersburg.

The parties considered the outlook for future cooperation in the energy sector, Gazprom revealed in a statement.

Special attention was given to increasing the efficiency of Russian gas supplies to consumers in France and Europe in general.

In addition, the participants discussed the next steps to build a new export route, Nord Stream II. It was unanimously agreed that the said infrastructure project was vitally important for securing reliable gas supplies to Europe.

In a separate meeting, Miller met with Walter Peeraer, Chief Executive Officer of Fluxys.

The two parties considered possible areas of the bilateral cooperation, including Russian gas transit via Belgium.

The parties also addressed the prospects for constructing new and direct gas transmission routes to Europe.
