IMarEST’s Oceans of Knowledge event, scheduled to take place on November 11, 2015, will explore the latest developments in operational ocean observation and prediction.
The event will provide a summary of user requirements for operational oceanographic products and services.
It will look to enhance engagement and improve understanding between users and suppliers, in both industry and academia and allow for an exchange of knowledge on best practice and emerging science and technology.
Speakers will cover requirements and concerns from various perspectives including offshore renewables, offshore oil and gas, hydrography, navigation, ports, flood risk management, insurance, oil spill responses, ship emergency response, marine leisure and more.
One of the speakers at the upcoming event, Ed Hill , Director at the National Oceanography Centre, said: “The ocean is rapidly rising up the international agenda and its value to society is increasingly recognized – this event explores the value of ocean information as the agenda takes off.”
Oceans of Knowledge provides an opportunity to contribute towards improved use of ocean information across a wide range of practical applications, and to network with scientists, engineers, asset managers and decision makers across disciplines and sectors.
The event will take place at the Royal Institution in London.
IMarEST represents the professional institution that brings together marine engineers, scientists and technologists into one international multi-disciplinary professional body.
