Shizuoka Gas Company and Chubu Gas Company have completed and put into operation the Shizuhama Trunkline, a 109 km natural gas pipeline connecting the Shimizu LNG terminal in Shizuoka City and Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture.

The construction work was started in November 2009 based on the agreements between the two companies for jointly constructing natural gas pipeline and selling/purchasing natural gas, aiming to establish stable and economical gas supply network and to meet energy demand mainly in mid-western part of Shizuoka Prefecture, the company said in a statement.

This completion of the construction of Shizuhama Trunkline enables Shizuoka Gas to supply natural gas to Chubu Gas and thus, by having an additional supply source from the east end of its existing supply network, Chubu Gas to improve the reliability and capacity of their supply.
