Jordan’s National Electric Power Company has reportedly selected Shell to supply half of the LNG cargoes sought in a tender issued in July.
Sources told Reuters that Shell was picked to supply NEPCO with cargoes during 2016 and 2017.
According to the initial tender, Jordan’s National Electric Power Company sought 19 DES cargoes per annum over a period of four years, starting 2016.
The tender attracted interest receiving more than 16 offers before closing the on September 2.
It is not clear whether NEPCO plans to issue a second tender for the remainder of the cargoes scheduled for deliveries in 2018 and 2019, or whether it has already selected its suppliers.
One of the traders involved in the tender revealed that NEPCO already sent regret letters to all participating trading houses.
Jordan has started importing the chilled gas in May this year via the Golar Eskimo FSRU, which is being used as a regasification facility in Aqaba.
