Commissioning at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction facilities began with first LNG still on track to be produced by year-end, according to Bechtel.
The company’s COO Brendan Bechtel told Bloomberg, that Bechtel has commenced commissioning of the first liquefaction train together with Cheniere, and confirmed earlier predictions by Cheniere’s CEO Charif Souki, that first LNG will be produced at the facility by the end of 2015.
The first liquefaction train at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana will have the capacity to produce 4.5 mtpa of LNG.
A period of at least six months of testing follows, Bechtel added, saying that loop checks and instrumentation checks are being carried out along the way.
All six Sabine Pass liquefaction trains are expected to be commissioned by 2018.
Earlier this year, Bechtel began construction at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi liquefaction project in Texas.
