Jumbo’s Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) Fairplayer has arrived in Brazil, carrying three FPSO modules for Estaleiros Do Brasil (EBR).
According to Jumbo, the FPSO modules were loaded in Thailand and will be discharged in São José do Rio Norte, Brazil.
Project Manager Boudewijn van der Garden said: “Fairplayer is made for operations like this. The measurements of the modules provided an optimum use of our vessel’s lifting capacity. We applied special lifting gear and a rigging design to meet the specific loading requirements for the modules. In addition, we also modified the transportation beams into suitable load spreaders. A versatile vessel like Fairplayer enables us to provide tailor made solutions for our clients.”
The FPSO modules measure approximately 22 x17, 5 x 30m and the heaviest module weighs about 1,000t. Jumbo says its team attended the loading operation in Laem Chabang and is also present in Brazil.
While the Dutch heavy lifter doesn’t specifically say it, the modules are probably destined for the P-74 FPSO, to be operated by Petrobras at the Buzios field, in the Santos Basin, offshore Rio de Janeiro.
Petrobras in 2013 awarded EBR an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract to install topsides units for a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) system. The scope of work for EBR also includes EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) of the modules for the P-74 FPSO.
The modules were build by the Norwegian oilfield services company Aibel.
The P-74 FPSO is being built from a converted oil tanker. Once completed, it will be able to produce 150 thousand barrels/day and compress 7 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
