Navitus Bay developers have decided not to challenge the decision of the Department for Energy and Climate Change to refuse consent for the offshore wind farm.
“We would like to thank the communities on the South Coast and all our stakeholders for their engagement throughout the project. We would also like to extend a thank you to the potential suppliers, who worked incredibly hard to inform our proposal,” the developers said.
Navitus Bay Development Limited has also informed MHI Vestas Offshore Wind about its latest decision, as MHI Vestas had been appointed preferred wind turbine supplier. Since the project had not achieved status as a firm and unconditional order, the decision by Navitus Bay Development Limited will not impact the order backlog of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, the company said.
Over the course of the project, Navitus Bay has gathered data from a wide range of offshore surveys and studies, which will be made available via The Crown Estate’s Marine Data Exchange once transfer and quality assurance processes have been completed.
“We recognise that this marine data is valuable and can provide a legacy by helping to stimulate research, support academia and contribute towards the sustainable management of the seabed,” Navitus Bay Development Limited, a company formed by EDF and Eneco, said.
