Ensco, a UK-based drilling contractor, has secured a contract for one of its semi-submersible drilling rigs.
According to the company’s fleet status report for September, the semi-submersible rig ENSCO 8505 was recently contracted for a multi-year term in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
The rig has been hired by Marubeni Corporation. Ensco has moved the drilling rig to a shipyard in Texas where it will undergo upgrades prior to embarking on its new contract.
According to the fleet update, the upgrade will take around 70 days. The new contract is expected to start in December, until January 2018, at various day rates between low $150.000s and low $210.000s depending on scope of work.
