TenneT has signed a contract with the engineering consultancy Witteveen + Bos in consortium with Mott MacDonald, and Altenburg & Wymenga and IMARES Wageningen UR as subcontractors, for the preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the connection of wind farms planned off the south Dutch coast.

The EIA needs to be in place before submitting the licence application.

The south coast of the Netherlands is the second of three areas chosen by the government to develop offshore wind farms in the coming years, in line with the Energy Agreement. The offshore wind farms are expected to provide a total of 3,500 megawatts of wind power from 2023.
