Cheniere: Sabine Pass LNG progresses (Gallery)

Houston-based LNG player Cheniere issued an update on the construction progress of the Sabine Pass liquefaction facility during the month of September.

According to Cheniere’s filing to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, stage 1 engineering and procurement are 100 percent complete while subcontract and direct hire construction work are 82.2 percent and 91.5 percent complete, respectively. Stage 1 overall completion is 95.2 percent.

Engineering for stage 2 is also 100 percent complete with procurement reaching 98.9 percent completion. Subcontract and direct hire construction work are 50 percent and 40.4 percent complete, respectively. Overall project completion for stage 2 is at 73.6 percent.

Stage 3 baseline schedule is being prepared and progress reporting is expected to start in October 2015.

During September, Train 1 continued to work on the above ground pipe testing and restoration in compressors/refrigeration units and cold box areas. Work also continued on cable pulling/termination, and instrument/tubing to support loop test and system turnover to startup.

The Stage 1 flare was commissioned on September 29, as fuel gas was introduced into the facility. At the end of September, approximately 86 percent of the Train 1 ISBL and OSBL construction systems had been turned over for startup/commissioning.

Train 2 continued to work on above ground pipe testing/restoration and electrical installation in all areas.

Train 3 continued to work on propane refrigeration, cryo pipe rack, and compressor area above ground piping. All Train 3 pipe bridges have been installed, connecting Train 3 to the OSBL & Stage 1 pipe rack.

Train 4 continued to work on cryo rack and compressor area above ground piping. The propane chillers and ethylene surge drum were set during the month.

Cheniere informed that according to the current progress, trains 1 and 2 should be completed by March 2016 and June 2016, respectively. Trains 3 and 4 targeted substantial completion dates are April 2017 and August 2017.
