The U.S. FERC issued an order vacating Port Dolphin Energy’s certificate to construct and operate the onshore portion of a natural gas pipeline associated with the company’s proposed deepwater LNG port in Manatee County, Florida.
Port Dolphin Energy, a unit of Höegh LNG, requested the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to vacate the certificate earlier in September due to changes in the natural gas industry.
The company, looking to interconnect the onshore pipeline to an interstate and an intrastate pipeline, said in its filing that due to these changes the United States have become an exporter rather than an importer of natural gas.
This resulted in Port Dolphin being unable to negotiate commercial contracts for the proposed project, which lead to the abandonment of the project.
FERC briefly informed in its order that, as per Dolphin Energy’s request, the commission vacates the certificate to construct and operate the natural gas facilities.
