The shortlist for the Sustainable Energy Awards 2015, presented by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), has been revealed.

Now in its 12th year, the Sustainable Energy Awards, encourage and reward excellence in energy management. The SEAI Awards feature a number of categories, and this year, Ireland-based tidal energy technology developer OpenHydro has been nominated in the Innovation category.

The innovation category recognises the development and advancement of new technologies, systems, and approaches which have the capacity to influence sustainable energy use in Ireland.

Another marine energy developer, GKinetic Energy, has been nominated in this year’s special award for Design in sustainable energy. This award recognises products or projects or services which best demonstrate the vital fusion of technically sound sustainable energy solutions and creative execution for maximum appeal.

The overall winner will be announced at SEAI’s gala event on November 19, 2015.
