Construction is moving forward on the Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in the Russian Arctic, LNG engineer Technip said on Thursday.
The first pipe rack module for the initial LNG train was shipped and installed onto its foundations for the LNG project on Yamal Peninsula, while electrical substations “ safely navigated to Sabetta after transit through the Bering Strait ,” Technip said in its third-quarter report.
The substations are now on their foundations. Process modules are under construction in Chinese yards, according to Technip.
Overall, the Paris-based company said it delivered all modules scheduled for shipment in 2015.
Total of France revealed in September that the overall construction on the LNG project is 30 percent complete. The project includes a 16 mtpa LNG plant which will consist of three liquefaction trains.
It is expected that the first cargo of the chilled gas will leave the LNG plant in 2017.
Yamal LNG is a joint venture between Novatek (60 percent), Total (20 percent) and China National Oil & Gas Exploration and Development Corporation (20 percent) with China’s Silk Road Fund soon to complete the acquisition of 9.9 percent stake from Novatek.
