Solstad Offshore, a Norwegian owner of offshore support vessels, has launched its new construction support vessel “NB 830”, that will be named Normand Maximus.
According to Solstad, the vessel is now preparing for transfer to Norway.
The hull was built at Vard Tulcea in Romania, while the completion of the construction will be done at Vard Brattvåg, Norway.
On its Facebook page, Solstad said the vessel was scheduled to arrive in Brattvåg in mid-December. The delivery is expected in June 2016.
Agreement for the building of NB830, TBN Normand Maximus, was signed in the first quarter of 2014. The vessel has a contract price of $367 million and it is being built for a long-term contract with Italian oil company Saipem.
The vessel will be about 180 meters long, with a beam of 33 meters and a deck area of more than 2500 m2.
It will have a 550-ton top tension vertical lay system, enabling the installation of large diameter flexible pipes in ultra-deepwater and in harsher environments. In addition, a 900-ton active heave compensated offshore crane and a 4000-ton under-deck carousel for storage of flexible pipes, cables and umbilicals.
