An employee working aboard the SeaRose FPSO in Canada has been arrested for suspicion of possessing ecstasy.
According to the Cbc.ca , the arrest took place following a complaint by Husky Energy, the operator of the FPSO, that the contractor might be in possession of illegal drugs.
Also, VOCM reports that pills that did not match the description on the bottle’s label were discovered during an inspection, as the worker was returning to work.
Police charged the man, 51, with possession of illegal substances, possibly ecstasy, for the purpose of trafficking.
“Husky is committed to providing a safe work environment for employees and contractors. We have strict protocols in place regarding drugs and alcohol, and immediate action was taken to notify authorities. The RCMP have laid charges. It is not appropriate for Husky to comment further on the case as the matter is before the courts,” Husky Energy said in an e-mail sent to Offshore Energy Today.
Husky Energy operates the SeaRose floating, production, storage and offloading unit, moored at the White Rose offshore field, located in the Jeanne d’Arc basin in the North Atlantic Ocean, offshore Canada.
