According to the latest Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) public survey, UK public shows consistent support for renewable energy, with the latest poll results at 76% in favor of using renewable energy sources.
Opposition to renewables was very low at 5%, with only 1% strongly opposed.
When it comes to level of support for specific renewable energy technologies, solar got the highest level of support with 80%, followed by offshore wind, and wave and tidal at 73% each, onshore wind with 66% and biomass with 65%.
RenewableUK’s Deputy Chief Executive Maf Smith said: “The message from this latest poll is clear – ordinary people see renewables as a British success story and want to see us increasing their use further. We hope that Ministers will look at these figures carefully and listen to what the thousands of voters who took part in this official Government poll are telling them.”
The data was collected between September 23-27, 2015, using face-to-face in-home interviews with a representative sample of 2,121 households in the UK.
