National Grid informed on Wednesday it has opened a truck loading facility at its Isle of Grain LNG terminal in Kent.
“ The new loading hub will allow road tanker operators to load LNG in bulk and transport the fuel directly to filling stations, as well as to industrial and commercial markets throughout the UK and mainland Europe ,” the utility said.
The facility will be initially offering 36 slots for road tankers each day.
According to National Grid, it has planning permission in place to increase the size of the facility, doubling the amount of bays available from two to four, subject to market demand.
In a separate statement issued earlier this month, Flogas Britain said it has been offered a ‘first-fill’ at the new LNG truck loading facility.
Flogas drew 20 tonnes of LNG during the first-fill and said it will be taking 60 to 100 tonnes of LNG daily to industrial manufacturing sites across the UK.
Together with Flogas, one of the first customers to load at the facility was Calor LNG, the operator of a liquefied natural gas refueling network in the UK.
