The BlueTEC floating tidal platform is currently being upgraded with Tocardo’s larger T2 tidal turbine.

According to Bluewater’s social media, BlueTEC platform has been lifted on the quay today, November 12, 2015.

Tocardo’s T2 200 kW tidal turbine will be mounted on the platform, doubling its current capacity.

BlueTEC tidal platform has been deployed at Wadden Sea, off Texel island, the Netherlands, for several months.

Allard van Hoeken, Head of New Energy at Bluewater Energy Services, announced that another T2 turbine is planned for installation on the platform in the following months, increasing the capacity of BlueTEC to 400-500 kW.

BlueTec Texel project represents collaboration between Bluewater, Damen/ Niron Staal, Van Oord/Acta Marine, Tocardo, TKF, Vryhof, NIOZ, Nylacast, Schottel Hydro and Tidal Test Centre.
