The first vessel to transport modules to Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in Russia was recently launched at Cosco Dalian Shipyard.

The Netherlands-based BigRoll Shipping said in a statement on Thursday that the BigRoll Barentsz, the first of four vessels under construction, was launched at the end of October with the delivery expected in March 2016.

The second ship in the series, the BigRoll Bering is expected to be launched in December, with delivery slated for May 2016.

Directly after delivery, both vessels will enter into a multi-year contract with Yamgaz, the consortium of Technip, JGC Corporation and Chiyoda, for module transportation as part of the Yamal LNG project.

The remaining vessels, that have the ability to operate in -39 degree centigrade temperatures, will follow shortly with delivery anticipated to be the second half of 2016 and early 2017, BigRoll said.
