The Ensco 5006 drilling rig deployed on the Inpex -operated Ichthys LNG project received two 104 tonne christmas trees last month.
The structures were delivered to the Ichthys field, 200 kilometres off the Western Australian coast by support vessel Far Sword, according to Inpex.
Christmas trees were loaded by a 550-tonne capacity crane at the Darwin marine supply base with vessel ballasting operations happening in parallel to the loading to manage vessel stability.
Christmas tree systems are an assembly of valves, spools and fittings that will control the flow of hydrocarbons from the wellhead to the project’s central processing facility.
Ichthys CPF has recently been launched from the offshore floating dock at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, where it is being constructed.
Once construction is completed the facility will be towed about 6,000 kilometres to the Ichthys field in the Browse Basin, offshore Western Australia where it will be permanently moored near the field for the life of the project
