Solstad Offshore, a Norway-based provider of offshore support vessels, has shared a video of the sail away of its latest offshore construction vessel (OCV) Normand Maximus.

As previously reported by Offshore Energy Today , the vessel was launched Sunday, November 8. It set off for Norway a few days later, on Friday, November 13.

The vessel, built by Vard, according to the VARD 3 19 design, is expected to reach Brattvag, Norway by mid-December where it will undergo final outfitting. The vessel was towed out of Vard’s Tulcea, Romania shipyard, by the Nor Chief towing vessel.

According to Solstad, the 180 meter-vessel, largest in Solstad’s fleet, will be leased to Saipem, the Italian oil and gas industry contractor, with delivery scheduled for mid-2016.

The Normand Maximus features a 550-tonne top tension vertical lay system enabling the installation of large diameter flexible pipes in ultra deepwater environments. The offshore construction vessel will be equipped with a 900 tonne active heave compensated offshore crane and a 4,000 tonne under-deck carousel for storage of flexible pipes, cables and umbilicals.

As for the video itself, Solstad Offshore shared it on its Facebook page. The original video can be found on YouTube here: https://bit.ly/1N6HKR0
