Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has found several non-conformities on Statoil’s Gullfaks A platform, in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
Norway’s offshore industry watchdog discovered the irregularities during the platform audit that took place from September 2-4, 2015.
PSA visited Gullfaks A after Statoil’s decision to extend the life of the platform beyond 2016 for the 2016-2032 period.
In addition to the non-conformities, which are related to employee participation, planning and fire divisions, the watchdog found improvement points in the fields of goals and requirements, maintenance programme and effectiveness.
Statoil has been given a deadline of November 30, 2015 to report on how the non-conformities and improvement points will be dealt with.
Gullfaks A was installed in the North Sea in 1986 and started production in December the same year. In recent years the platform has been extended with the satellite subsea wells Rimfaks and Gullveig. The 165-meter-high platform is designed for 135m water depth and has drilling, production, accommodation and oil storage facilities.
