Qatar ships LNG to Taiwan

RasGas’ first dedicated liquefied natural gas carrier, the 138,000 cbm Fuwairit is on its way to Taiwan.

RasGas’ first dedicated liquefied natural gas carrier, the 138,000 cbm Fuwairit is on its way to Taiwan.

According to the shipping data, the vessel is set to arrive at the Taichung LNG terminal on November 28.

Taiwan’s terminal is currently undergoing expansion with the construction of three 160,000 cbm LNG storage tanks. CPC Corporation, the owner of the terminal signed the contract for the expansion with Kawasaki Heavy Industries in 2013.

Completion of the construction is scheduled for December 2018, after which the terminal’s capacity at Taichung Harbor will have a capacity of 5 million tons per year.
