French utility GRTgaz recently informed that the Dunkirk LNG terminal is nearing the commissioning phase with the connection to the natural gas transmission network.
France’s fourth LNG import terminal’s outgoing gas pipeline has been connected with the transmission network at GRTgaz’s metering station at Clipon à Loon-Plage.
The company added in its statement that first gas flow from the EDF-operated terminal is expected in early 2016 following the delivery of the testing and commissioning LNG cargo.
In full operation, the pipeline will allow the terminal to pump 1.9 cbm of gas per hour into the French gas transmission network covering the equivalent of 20 percent of French and Belgian gas consumption.
EDF owns a 65% stake in Dunkirk LNG (Dunkerque LNG). Fluxys of Belgium has a 25% share in the terminal, and Total owns the remaining 10 percent.
