The Port of Limassol, one of the largest and busiest ports in Cyprus, was shook by quite a scare on Monday, having received a bomb threat via telephone.
As informed, the transport police received the threat call on Monday morning at 09:30 by an unidentified person who spoke broke English.
The police was alerted and a bomb squad, including bomb sniffing dogs were rushed to the scene to look for a potential explosive device. According to police spokesman Andreas Angelides, cited by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), no such device was found at the port.
The port operations are reported to have resumed as usual.
Investigation is underway by the local police authorities.
The bomb threat comes following tightening of security measures across Europe in the aftermath of the Paris terrorist attacks.
The tragic events saw the authorities in Cyprus impose stringent safety measures at ports and airports.
