Prosafe, the operator of semi-submersible accommodation rigs, is considering a delay in delivery of its newbuild accommodation rig being built by Jurong Shipyard.
Prosafe said on Thursday it has agreed with Singapore’s Jurong Shipyard to a flexible delivery of the Safe Zephyrus accommodation rig.
According to Prosafe, the decision has been made in order to align with its contract portfolio. The rig is scheduled to start its time charter with Det norske in June 2016 until December 2016 on Ivar Aasen field offshore Norway. However, the provider of rigs can nominate either Safe Zephyrus or its sister rig Safe Boreas for this contract. Currently, Safe Boreas is under a contract with Lundin Norway.
If Prosafe defers delivery until after end 2015, its capital expenditure guiding for 2015 will be reduced by an amount equivalent to the final installment of the Safe Zephyrus capital expenditure, the company said on Thursday.
The operator of accommodation vessels also said that the Safe Zephyrus, ordered from Jurong in 2012, was complete and on budget.
Built based on the GVA 3000E design, Safe Zephyrus will be capable of operating gangway connected in deep water and in harsh environments alongside fixed platforms, floating platforms and floating production offloading vessels.
The 450-person capacity Dynamic Positioning class 3 (DP3) accommodation semi-submersible rig features a 12-point mooring system suitable for harsh-environment operations in the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
