Statoil’s Hammerfest LNG facility in Norway has dispatched a cargo to the United States on Monday.
Shipping data reveals that the liquefied natural gas cargo transported onboard the Statoil-chartered 147,980 cbm Arctic Princess LNG carrier is heading for Dominion’s Cove Point terminal located near Lusby, Maryland.
It is expected that the vessel will arrive at its destination on December 11.
The terminal, that was initially commissioned in the 70s, and later expanded to its current peak daily send-out capacity of 1.8 Bcf of natural gas and on-site LNG storage capacity of the equivalent of 14.6 Bcf or 678,900 cbm of LNG, is currently undergoing further transformation. Works are well underway to add LNG export facilities within the 131-acre footprint of the existing LNG terminal site.
The Cove Point LNG export project is estimated to cost between $3.4 billion and $3.8 billion.
Dominion has fully subscribed the marketed capacity of the project with 20-year service agreements with ST Cove Point, a joint venture of Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo Gas and Gail Global (USA) LNG.
